Looking for some natural hydration and fuel for your [email protected]@ workouts? Put down the Red 40 and the “glycerol ester of rosin” (aka Fruit Punch Gatorade) and pick up something better: Cocogo natural fruit- and coconut water-based hydration powder.
I typically have using low-calorie and sugar-free (sweetened with Stevia, of course!) electrolyte drink tabs after my outdoor runs. But on Saturday, I went on my long run…at noon… in the heat and sun. Not my smartest moment, but I wanted to get it done rather than put it off.
I did my run and sweat a TON! Despite drinking water before and after my run, I felt my body starting to crash not too long after I was finished. I could feel my blood sugar dipping and knew that I hadn’t consumed nearly enough calories and electrolytes after my run.
I grabbed a packet of Cocogo and drank it down with a glass of water and felt much better!
I have never been much into endurance sports until recently, and now that I have been running outdoors training for a half-marathon, I am learning through trial and error the HUGE importance of proper hydration and electrolyte balance.
And as much as I like to cut back on simple carbohydrates, when you are training for an endurance event, natural sugars and starches can be an ally! Sometimes you need that quick-digesting fuel to carry your through and to recover.
Cocogo is a great hydration fuel alternative to traditional drinks like Gatorade and Propel. I love that the ingredients are all natural and fruit-based, making Cocogo a great choice if you are conscientious about not wanting artificial ingredients in your body.
Check out the chart below to see how Cocogo stacks up to other sports drinks. I am a fan of GU Brew tablets, but Cocogo provides vitamin C, B vitamins, and more potassium, and some sugar to refuel.
The flavors of Cocogo are yummy, too! Raspberry Passion Fruit is by far my favorite flavor. In fact, I have even been tempted to eat the powder straight up!* I would love to see more flavor options in the future, and I do wish the powder was a bit more concentrated, but I think that is because I am used to tablets.
1 packet of Cocogo will flavor 1/2-1 cup of water depending on your electrolyte and calorie needs during exercise, but you can adjust the concentration depending on your preferences. But, overall, Cocogo is a fantastic option for fueling your adventures!
*P.S: After I wrote this I did eat the powder straight – it tastes like a natural pixie stick! If you try this, make sure you drink water with it 🙂
