Anyone up for some outdoor fun? Of course! My whole family loves being outdoors. Both my husband and I were raised doing plenty of things outdoors: biking, camping, hiking, fishing, baseball, soccer…you name it! We are raising out kids to appreciate the outdoors and living in Wyoming with an abundance of fresh air and sunshine is the perfect place to do that 🙂

We get our kids outside!

We had a blast on our 3 mile hike up Red Beds Trail at Devil’s Tower a couple weekends ago, except for the ticks…way too many ticks! We’re getting some natural tick repellent before we go back. We found a bunch of fun races and events to try this year: the Outlaw Challenge in Buffalo, The Rapid City Duathlon, The Twisted Tiger Bear Mountain Bash in LaGrange, WY, local races, and some trail races in the Black Hills. We are determined to do more camping, hiking, and racing this year, we just need to plan ahead and set it in our schedules.

To help me get ready for some of the races this spring and summer, and to get back into running again after my break, I have been using the Mountain Athletics™ app for workouts (in addition to my group fitness classes) and have been loving it so far! I’ll talk more about the app in a later post 😉 In the meantime, you can download the Mountain Athletics App and try the workouts for yourself, and follow the hashtag #ITrainFor to see what other athletes using the app are doing.

When you’re training for the outdoor activities you love best (whether it’s climbing, running, skiing, etc.), it’s important to get gear that will move with you. I got to try out the Mountain Athletics from The North Face, a clothing line for men and women designed to help mountain athletes train and reach their full potential in their favorite sports. The North Face sent me a gift card to pick out my favorite items from the Mountain Athletic™ line, and here’s what I picked out:

The Women’s Pulse Tight and the Women’s Pulse Short Tight. The length of the shorts is perfect: no too short and not too long, perfect for just about any exercise! I move really well in these, although I should have ordered a size smaller. These fit true to size and I usually order up in tights, but these fit perfectly.

The Graphic Play Hard Tank. The last set of words is hard to read in the photo: it says “Never Stop”. I wore this tank when I taught my weight lifting class the other day. My upper body is getting stronger, yay!

  1. I could use any of the moisture wicking shorts for my walks during farmer’s market season so my coworkers don’t think I pissed my pants when I return. WOMEN’S MA-X SHORT & WOMEN’S REFLEX CORE SHORTS are two I’d like.

  4. I love that hoodie! I have a jacket from North Face that’s perfect for winters down in Texas — light but warm enough for the cold winds. 🙂
