As I have admitted before, I am not a big at-home workout person. I like my gym – I love it there – hey, I even work there. But lately my motivation to exercise outside the gym has been pretty low. I am always looking for ways to shake up my exercise routine, so I did this home workout today for a change of pace.

I used body weight exercises in this workout because its nice to skip the heavy weights (and resulting muscle soreness) sometimes to give your body a change of pace and some active rest. One of my workouts earlier this week left me really sore for several days (not so much fun), so this workout was a welcome change.

This glute workout is based on one of Erin Stern’s You Tube videos. I took 3 of her recommended moves and added 2 of my favorite leg moves: plyometric lunges and jump squats.

For the workout, do a good warm-up: cardio or body-weight calisthenics (i.e. burpees, push-ups, air squats) for 10-15 minutes.  Complete each move with minimal to no rest between each. Repeat this sequence 1-2 times for beginners, or 3-4 times for intermediate to advanced exercisers.

What is your favorite at-home workout routine? Any favorite DVD’s?
