This Dairy Free Cherry Almond Smoothie makes the perfect decadent post-workout recovery smoothie or an anytime sweet snack that has no added sugars and is gluten free and vegan!
I love cherries! They can be super expensive this time of year, but I just had to buy some cherries for making Valentine’s Day treats this year. Of course this recipe didn’t make it out in time for Valentine’s Day, but this Cherry Almond Smoothie is a perfect anytime post-workout drink or just a fruity treat.
Cherries (especially tart ones) are a great recovery food. In fact, research shows that tart cherries are one of the best foods for fighting inflammation. While this smoothie is made with sweet cherries, you still get antioxidant benefits plus you can add a shot of tart cherry juice to the smoothie if you want even more.
This smoothie is full of fruit sugars to help replenish glycogen post-workout, and you can add a scoop of vanilla or chocolate protein powder to kick up the protein as well (you may have to add a bit more almond milk).

So much health benefits from cherry. This would be perfect for my post workout recovery. Thanks for the tips!
LOOKS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love cherries!
Thanks Jody! 🙂
I would never think to mix Cherries + Almond Butter together. They are two great flavors that I never thought to blend up. Can’t wait to give this a try.
Let me know if you try it! 🙂
mmm… I am just now coming to love cherries! Must try!
I love cherries too! I always eat too many of them when I buy them since I don’t get them very often (they can be expensive!) 😉
OOOH.
Id never thought of combining these two!!!
They are so yummy together! I usually add protein powder to my smoothies, but I didn’t this time: I just like the taste without it 🙂
